The Tanaiste and Foreign Affairs Minister says he's deeply concerned at plans by Uganda to pass laws criminalising homosexuality.
Eamon Gilmore said he's made it clear to the President of Uganda that the enactment of the 'draconian' legislation would affect Ireland's relationship with the country, which has an Irish embassy.
Minister Gilmore said the legislation would be in conflict with Uganda's international obligations on human rights.
Ireland is expected to provide around 21 million euro this year in aid to Uganda through NGO's.
