The Tanaiste and Social Protection Minister is welcoming the fall in the numbers on the Live Register.
New figures from the Central Statistics Office show there were 370 thousand people signing on in September - a drop of four thousand seven hundred.
It means the rate of unemployment has fallen to 11 point one per cent - down from the peak of 15 point one per cent in 2012.
