The Taoiseach has challenged Ireland to have a death-free Christmas period on the country's roads.

Enda Kenny's urging everyone on the roads - including pedestrians and cyclists - to be lit up properly as the Christmas exodus gets underway.

This evening is expected to be one of the busiest periods on the roads as workers finish up for the Christmas break.

The Taoiseach hopes everyone on the roads can follow the usual advice to stay safe this Christmas:
