The Taoiseach Enda Kenny says he's confident that Ireland's corporate taxation arrangements with Apple will stand up to any scrutiny.
The European Commission announced today that it will open formal State Aid investigations in a number of Member States - including Ireland.
The Department of Finance said the state will defend all aspects of this case vigorously - and Apple's insisting it's paid every euro of tax it owes.
The commission will also probe tax arrangements between Starbucks and the Netherlands, and Fiat Finance and Trade in Luxembourg.
