The Taoiseach's insisting that the government isn't cutting medical cards from people who need them.
His comments came after Fianna Fáil leader Micheál Martin accused the government of denying medical care to those who most needed it.
Deputy Martin told the Dáil that he was aware of a number of seriously ill children whose medical cards had been withdrawn from them.
But the Taoiseach said the falling numbers of discretionary medical cards didn't reflect the full picture:
