Taoiseach doesn't expect IBRC inquiry to collapse

Enda Kenny says he doesn't seen any reason why the inquiry into transactions at IBRC should collapse.

But the Taoiseach says no action will be taken to extend the inquiry's powers until it submits its interim report next week.

He's ruled out the prospect of abandoning the inquiry and setting up a tribunal with full powers of compellibility.

But he says the inquiry will not be collapsed - and he'll do everything he can so it can investigate the matters it's supposed to:

IBRC's former chairman says he can't help the stalled inquiry into the bank's affairs without getting access to all the appropriate documents.

Alan Dukes has renewed his plea for access to the documents, saying they could help the struggling inquiry to investigate the sale of SiteServ and other transactions.

Dukes says he found out in August that the inquiry was having legal difficulty - but has yet to be asked to give evidence.

And he says if he's asked for evidence, he'll have to be given access to the paperwork behind them:
