Enda Kenny travels to Berlin today for a one-on-one meeting with the German chancellor Angela Merkel.
The one-day visit will also take in a number of business events - while the Taoiseach will also open a Primark store in Alexanderplatz, the heart of the former East Berlin and a popular modern-day shopping destination.
He'll be pointing to Primark as an example of Irish firms leading the way overseas for his full day of events, which also includes an address to a major German business conference, and a trade event at the Irish embassy.
He'll also visit a remaining piece of the Berlin Wall - but the highlight of the day will be a 30-minute one-on-one meeting with the all-powerful German chancellor Angela Merkel.
They're expected to discuss calls for Europe to revisit its austerity agenda - and the €30 billion question of a deal on Ireland's legacy bank debts.
