Taoiseach says Britain should not rush Brexit

The Taoiseach is backing the UK not to rush its departure from the European Union.

Enda Kenny's comments came as the president of the European Council said he was ready for the UK to 'immediately' begin exit talks.

The 28 leaders are meeting in Brussels tonight to discuss the fallout from Thursday's referendum.

A spokesperson for British Prime Minister David Cameron says he had "amicable and constructive" talks with other key EU leaders in Brussels.

Enda Kenny says it's only right that a new prime minister should take over to negotiate Britain's exit:
Meanwhile, the ratings agency Fitch says Ireland's economy is highly exposed to the impact of Brexit.

The agency says the UK vote to leave the European Union poses a risk to economic growth here.

The reports says Brexit also creates uncertainty around future relations with Northern Ireland.

But it says Ireland could gain from a shift of some foreign direct investment from the UK to EU countries like Ireland.
