The Taoiseach's promised to put an end to charities' abuse of public funds.

Enda Kenny's insisting he'll act tough to stop charities from using public fundraising to pay management salaries.

His comments come as the head of the HSE prepares to take questions from TDs about charities breaching its pay cap.

The Taoiseach says abuse of public generosity must be stopped.

The Public Accounts Committee will hear from HSE chief Tony O'Brien about what the HSE can do to stop health agencies ignoring public pay guidelines.

But TDs are also expected to name four other agencies with similar salary arrangements to the CRC, after a number of anonymous whistleblowers came forward.

Today’s meeting is also expected to examine the controversial allegations around the CRC’s pension fund.
