The White House has published a letter from Enda Kenny, thanking president Barack Obama for his action on immigration reform.
The letter shows the Taoiseach thanking President Obama for what he calls the "humanity and leadership" by announcing the reforms.
The letter focusses on the possibility that some illegal Irish immigrants in the US might be able to visit Ireland without facing permanent deportation.
The Taoiseach says he joins with Obama in hoping that the US Congress might now agree to immigration reforms of its own.
