Taoiseach's 'hope' for Greek deal

The Taoiseach says he "genuinely hopes" a deal to keep Greece in the Euro can be agreed this weekend.

Greece has tabled new plans to raise taxes and reform its pensions system, as well as raising taxes for its islands.

It's all part of a proposal to get over 53 billion euro in new loans from the Eurozone, without which it could be forced out of the Euro by Monday.

Speaking at a meeting in Rome with his Italian counterpart, Enda Kenny says he hopes Europe will stand together to save Greece from further strife:

But a socialist TD says the Greek government would be in breach of its mandate by agreeing to the plans.

The Greek parliament will vote at midnight local time (10pm Irish time) on whether to approve Tsipras' proposals, which then go to a meeting of Eurozone finance ministers tomorrow, and potentially to a full summit of EU leaders on Sunday.

Anti-Austerity Alliance TD Paul Murphy - who's been supporting Mr Tsipras's government - says the new deal is a breach of mandate.

He's calling on the left-wing segment of Tsipras' Syriza party to resist the plan - and says the new proposals totally ignore the outcome of last Sunday's referendum:
