Fine Gael TD Nicky McFadden has been laid to rest.
The 51-year-old Longford-Westmeath deputy died on Tuesday, after a two-year battle with Motor Neurone Disease.
Around one thousand people attended her requiem mass in her hometown of Athlone today.

Her coffin was draped in the tricolour, when it arrived at the Church of Our Lady Queen of Peace in Coosan shortly after midday, from her nearby house.
Her daughter Caren, son Eoin, and sisters Aine and Gab, the Mayor of Athlone, were the chief mourners.

The President Michael D Higgins, the Taoiseach Enda Kenny and the Tanaiste Eamon Gilmore attended the funeral.

The majority of the Cabinet, along with the Ceann Comhairle Sean Barrett and dozens of Nicky McFadden's Dail colleagues from all parties were also in attendance.

Members of the Seanad, which she was elected to in 2007, also turned out.
Most of the day's business in the Oireachtas had been postponed as a mark of respect.
