Around 17 thousand teachers are beginning industrial action this week - after rejecting the Haddington Road Agreement on Public Sector Pay.
From today, teachers who are members of the ASTI will refuse to attend meetings and events outside of school hours - or take on extra duties.
There are fears this could affect the new Junior Cycle.
