A teenage boy is in a critical condition in hospital in Kerry after sustaining serious head injuries in a motorcycle crash this afternoon.

The 16-year old came off the motorbike on the Ferry Road outside Tarbert at around 2.30pm.

He was airlifted to University Hospital Limerick where his condition has been described as critical.

Gardai at Listowel are now investigating the single vehicle crash.
