A paternity test has disproved a Spanish woman's claim that she is the daughter of surrealist artist Salvador Dali.

The iconic artist's remains were exhumed in July.

DNA samples were collected, and tests were carried out by experts.

61-year-old tarot card reader Pilar Abel has long alleged her mother had an affair with Dali, and that she had the right to claim part of his vast estate.

In a statement quoted by BBC, the Dali Foundation - which looks after the artist's estate - said: "The DNA tests show that Pilar Abel is not Dali's daughter."

The artist - who died in 1989 - is buried at under the dome of the Dalí Theatre-Museum in Figueres, Spain.
