An Army Bomb Disposal Team have made safe a hand grenade in the O'Hanlon Park area of Dundalk in Co. Louth this evening.
The Defence Forces deployed the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Team to an area of waste ground following a request from An Garda Siochána.
A cordon and road closures were put in place for public safety.
The team arrived on scene at 7pm and the grenade was made safe at the scene, removed to a secure military location and destroyed by controlled explosion.
