Gardaí are investigating after the body of a woman in her 80s was discovered in Co Wexford last night.

The woman's body was found at her home in Wexford town at around half past nine.

It has emerged tonight that the body may have been lying in the house for some time. 

The body was transferred to University Hospital Waterford where a post mortem examination is due to be carried out next week.

It is understood that the Gardai are not treating the woman’s death as suspicious.
