The Irishman who died in East Africa has been named locally as Govan Jolliffe-Byrne.
The 20 year old was travelling in Tanzania died following a fall outside a nightclub.
His local GAA club Naomh Mearnog tweeted their condolences, saying he was everyone's friend and will never be forgotten.
A Department of Foreign Affairs spokesman said consular assistance is being provided to his family.
