Authorities on the US Virgin Islands say three people have been killed by Hurricane Irma in "catastrophic damage."

It takes the number of people killed across the Caribbean to thirteen.

Hurricane Jose has been upgraded to Category 3 - and is following the same course behind Irma.

Florida and Georgia are on high alert while Turks and Caicos and Haiti are bracing for record winds.
