Three directors of NAMA have insisted it's "wrong" to claim the agency lost out on over 230 million euro through the sale of its Northern loans.

But they've been heavily criticised over their appearance at the Public Accounts Committee, which one TD labelled "a PR disaster".

PAC chairman Sean Fleming took issue with the adversarial tone of the NAMA directors' comments - saying that if here were a referee, the members would all have been shown red cards for their conduct .

The directors were also accused of deliberately keeping some information from NAMA's advisors in order to secure a clean bill of health.

They confirmed that Lazard, the firm recruited to make sure all possible buyers were found for the loans, were not asked to value the loans first - and that they weren't told of the reason why the original bidders Pimco had pulled out.

However the directors insisted Frank Cushnahan - whose alleged "fixer's fee" led to Pimco pulling out of the loan process - had no sway over the sale.
