Three men have died in a serious crash in County Waterford this morning and another six people seriously injured.

The six people including children in one car were air lifted to two hospitals, Cork University and Waterford Regional Hospital.

The two car collison happened on the Military Road on the outskirts of Dungarven at around 9.30am.

One of the cars went on fire and it remains at the scene for an examination.

The stretch of road remains closed overnight and gardai are appealing for witnesses who may have travelled the road and saw something to contact them at Dungarven.
