Three insurers will pass on price increases

Three private health insurance companies say the government is forcing them to increase premiums for customers.

Aviva, Laya Healthcare and GloHealth say they cannot absorb increases in stamp duty announced by the Minister for Health yesterday.

The news will mean the average family pays an extra 128 euro a year - but VHI customers will escape the increase.
