Over three quarters of people support same sex marriage.

A RED C poll conducted for RTE Prime Time and the Sunday Business Post shows the level of support is unchanged, since a survey in November.

76 percent of adults said they were in favour of supporting same sex marriage rights, if a referendum was held tomorrow, while 80 percent think people in same sex relationships should be able to have the same rights as traditional families.

49 percent believe in equal rights for gay people have some reservations about same sex marriage.

When it comes to the issue of adoption by gay couples, the poll found 41 percent have reservations.

The same percentage think that people who oppose same sex marriage rights are homophobic

Over one thousand adults were surveyed between 17th and 19th February for the poll.
