A letter written by a passenger on the Titanic, the day before the liner sank in 1912, has sold at auction for a record-breaking 140-thousand euro.

Salesman Alexander Holverson had intended to post the note - written on embossed Titanic stationery - to his mother in New York.

His body was recovered from the Atlantic and the letter was folded inside a notebook found with his remains.
