Transport Minister wants Aer Lingus strike called off

The Transport Minister is calling on Aer Lingus cabin crew to call off their strike.

Members of the IMPACT trade union plan to hold a 24-hour work stoppage this Friday, in a dispute with management over rosters.

The stoppage is scheduled for the Friday of the Bank holiday and Aer Lingus management has been critical of the timing of the strike.

Last Night the IMPACT trade union said it has accepted the company's invitation to talks  but said its unlikely the action will be called off 

Leo Varadkar has welcomed IMPACT's willingness to return to talks - but said the strike action should now be called off.
