Former X-Factor judge Tulisa has been stopped from suing The Irish Sun on Sunday for defamation over its 'fake Sheikh' drugs sting.

The pop star missed the one year deadline to bring an action and the High Court has refused to give her an extension.

The story began when an undercover reporter for The Sun posed as a movie producer offering Tulisa the lead role in a Hollywood film as a girl from the ghetto.

The pop singer says in order to convince him she was streetwise and right for the part she foolishly agreed that she could get him some cocaine.

In June 2013, the UK and Irish editions of The Sun ran a story by Mazher Mahmoud, sometimes known as the 'Fake Sheikh', claiming she'd set up a secret sale of drugs.

While a criminal charge was struck out, Tulisa claims the sting destroyed her career- High Court President Nicholas Kearns today agreed she been 'cruelly deceived' by a 'shabby trick' but refused to extend the deadline that would allow her sue the Irish edition of The Sun for alleged defamation.

Her lawyers said the delay was in part due to her mental state but the court noted during that time she'd managed to take action over a leaked sex tape and post photos of herself at a host of parties including a fancy dress birthday bash for Niall Horan.
