Turkey's Prime Minister has told Dutch authorities that retaliation to the expulsion of two ministers will come 'in the harshest ways'.

Ankara's Foreign Minister and Family Affairs Minister have been banned from addressing a rally in Rotterdam, ahead of Turkey's referendum next month.

The vote will ask Turks to give more powers to the country's President.

Following the decision to block the ministers attending the meeting, more than one thousand people gathered in protest outside the Turkish consulate in Rotterdam.

Riot police clashed with protesters and used mounted officers and dogs to control the situation.

Turkey's foreign minister Mevlut Cavusoglu says the Dutch government's actions demonstrate their hostility towards Turks and Muslims:
