A large-scale security operation has come to an end at Shannon Airport.

It's after an aircraft, en route from Houston in the United States to Istanbul, was forced to land there this morning following a bomb threat.

227 passengers were evacuated from the Turkish Airlines operated Boeing 777-300 after a note had been found on board the aircraft by its crew.

Fire and medical personnel were dispatched to Shannon, along with Gardaí, some armed.

The plane has just taken off after searches of the plane were carried out, but no explosive material was found.
