Two men have been arrested after separate seizures of cannabis worth a total of 430 thousand euro.

Gardaí stopped and searched a car at a checkpoint on the M7 motorway at Doon, near Borris-in-Ossory in County Laois.

Cannabis herb with a street value of over 250 thousand was discovered in the car.

The driver, a man in his 30s, is being held for questioning at Portlaoise Garda Station.

Seperately, gardai found 180 thousand euro worth of cannabis in Ballyfermot in Dublin.

Customs officers and gardaí intercepted a consignment of 9 kilogrammes of cannabis which arrived into the country today.

A man in his 40s is being held at Ballyfermot Garda station.
