A man and a woman have been charged in connection with the serious assault of a taxi driver in Dublin.
The 32 year old man was attacked in the early hours of yesterday morning in Ranelagh, at the junction of Charleston Rd and Oakley Rd, when he tried to help a young woman he believed had been beaten up.
When he went to her aid, he was set upon by two people and assaulted with a broken bottle.
The victim was taken to St Vincent's Hospital for treatment - he has since been discharged.
Gardaí arrested a 27 year old man and a 22 year old woman.
They've been charged and were remanded in custody, to appear before Dublin District Court tomorrow morning.
