Two people have died in seperate crashes in Roscommon and Dublin.

A woman in her 90s was discovered in her car in a deep ditch on the side of the road between Castleplunket and Ballintubber just before 1 o'clock today.

She had been reported missing yesterday when she failed to return home from an appointment.

Her body was removed to University College Hospital Galway for a port mortem.

Elsewhere in Dublin a cyclist died after he was hit by a truck at Whitechurch road in Rathfarnham at around 1.30 this afternoon.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses.
