A 30-year-old man has been arrested after firearms and ammunition were seized in Finglas in Dublin.

Just after 10.30pm last night, gardaí on armed patrol as part of Operation Hybrid saw a man acting suspiciously on Casement Drive.

They approached him and he fled the scene but was later arrested.

A rucksack was recovered, and two handguns and some ammunition were found.

Gardaí also found a set of keys and a stolen car.

The man is being questioned at Finglas Garda Station under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act.
