Two Irish Injured In Turkish Suicide Bombing

Two Irish people have been injured in a suicide bomb attack in Turkey, in which at least four people were killed.

Ireland's Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade, Charlie Flanagan TD, confirmed that a number of Irish citizens were among the injured.

Turkey's Health Minister also confirmed that two Irish citizens were among the 37 people injured in the blast which occurred in a shopping district popular with tourists.

Seven people are said to be seriously injured.

The Department of Foreign Affairs has updated its travel advice for Irish citizens, saying the threat of further terrorism remains very high.

An Embassy official is on the ground in Istanbul to provide consular assistance.

Turkey was already on edge after two suicide bombings in the capital, Ankara, including one that killed 37 people.
