Two men in their 30s have been killed in separate road crashes in Cork and on the Longford Westmeath border this morning. 

At 4.30am a man in his early 30s died when the car he was driving collided with a truck on the N72 near Mallow.

The man died at the scene.

Then at 6am, a second man also in his 30s died when the car he was driving collided with a van on the N4 between Edgeworthstown and Rathowen on the Longford Westmeath border.

Both scenes have been closed off to traffic to allow technical examinations take place.

Diversions are in place.
