Ireland has a new Oscar winner today and Leonardo DiCaprio has finally got his first.

Mad Max: Fury Road won six awards, while Spotlight was the surprise Best Picture winner.

Irish films had a whopping nine nominations going into the ceremony and secured two on the night.

Benjamin Cleary scooped the prize for Best Live Action Short with his film Stutterer.

He spoke to Anton Savage this morning:

US actress Brie Larson won Best Actress for her role in Irish film Room - Saoirse Ronan missed out in that category.

After 22 year sin the business, The Best Actor award finally went to Leonardo Di Caprio for his role in The Revenant.
