Two people have died following a crash in county Tipperary earlier this evening.

The two car collision happened on the Nenagh to Borrisokane Rd at approximately 5.20pm.

A man and a woman -in their 60's -were fatally injured. They were both pronounced dead at the scene.

Another man, a passenger in his 20’s - was seriously injured.

He was taken to the Midwest Regional Hospital in Limerick.

The driver of the second car -a woman in her 30's - was uninjured.

The road is closed to allow for a forensic examination and local diversions are in place.

Motorists are advised that the road is expected to remain closed overnight.
