Two women are due to be sentenced shortly for their parts in a Europe-wide scam that led to over €300,000 being stolen from eBay customers.

The pair were arrested in Dublin last November following an investigation by the Garda fraud squad.

Cristina Manda and Georgina Draghici used fake passports to set up false accounts in several banks across Dublin.

Once these so-called "mule accounts" were set up, eBay customers looking to buy high value items were then targeted.

Bogus items were advertised online and the buyer was instructed to deposit the agreed amount in the Irish accounts.

The two Romanian women would then withdraw the cash and hand it straight over to other gang members.

They were arrested following an investigation by the Garda Bureau of Fraud Investigation and are due to be sentenced today.
