Up to 60 milimetres of rain has fallen in parts of the country with many roads impassable and two weather warnings still in place.
Flooding has also closed roads in parts of Dublin, Meath, Louth and Kildare, and there's widespread surface water on many routes - so motorists should take extra care.
Gerry Murphy from Met Eireann says the heaviest rainfalls were recorded in Dublin, Cork and Roscommon.
