The US says it's air-dropped weapons to Kurdish forces fighting Islamic State militants.

Ammunition and medical supplies have also been delivered to fighters trying to hold the town of Kobani, near the Turkish border.

The move is likely to anger Turkey, which has said it would oppose the US helping to arm the Kurds.
