The US government is to stop using chimpanzees for research.

50 Chimps in Federal custody are to be sent to a sanctuary for retirement according to Health authorities.

Chimpanzees, are humans' closest living relative and share 98 percent of the same genes.

However other non human primates will continue to be used for research.
