The US government says transatlantic digital trade has been put at risk by a ruling from Europe's highest court on data transfers to the US.

The European Court of Justice has struck out the current agreement - governing the transfer of personal data from sites including Facebook and Twitter.

The Data Protection Commissioner is to meet with her European counterparts to discuss the fallout from the ruling.
