US 'unlikely' to rescue refugees in Iraq

America says it's "unlikely" it'll organise a rescue mission for thousands of refugees in northern Iraq who've fled violent militants.

US soldiers in the Sinjar Mountains claim there are fewer people trapped than feared - and that they're in better condition than expected.

A UK team's also gathering information for possible humanitarian work.

Major Richard Cripwell is the British Forces Commander in Cyprus, where another aid plane has stopped off.
