The US wants airlines around the world to beef up security on flights bound for the United States.

Homeland Security Secretary John Kelly says the changes will be "seen and unseen" and phased in during the coming weeks and months.

If countries don't comply - electronic devices on affected planes could be banned, or the flights themselves suspended.
