A Dublin man - jailed for 10 years for repeatedly raping his partner's daughter - has been described as a 'monster' by his victim.

Herny Crowe of Blackditch Road, Ballyfermot pleaded guilty at the Central Criminal Court to five sample charges of raping Majella Cahill at their Galway home on dates between 1988 and 1992.

Majella Cahill's victim impact report describes a horrible and disgusting childhood where the children were left on their own, ''hungry and dirty,''

She said she was sexually abused by her now deceased grandfather and neglected by her mother - who would clean and feed her family when she knew social services were visiting.

Between the ages of 11 and 15 Majella Cahill was also raped on a daily basis by her mother's partner Henry Crowe at their Galway home.

'He became a monster in my mind,'' she told the court and she waived her right to anonymity in these criminal proceedings so that he could be named publically.

The 57 year old Dubliner pleaded guilty to 5 sample charges of rape and today received a ten year jail sentence.

While Majella Cahill has welcomed her rapist's sentence she has said the abuse is something she'll have to live with for the rest of her life.
