The Taoiseach says nobody can complain about who will benefit from Alan Shatter's severance pay.

The former Justice Minister announced today he's accepting the €70,000 payment, which he will be donating to the Jack and Jill Foundation.

Enda Kenny, who had called on Alan Shatter not to draw down the money, says the Dublin South TD is not benefiting himself from his severance entitlement.

The Taoiseach says he didn't ask Alan Shatter about the issue when he spoke to him yesterday, because the intention was that no Minister would accept a severance payment.

However Enda Kenny says he hopes the very challenged children in the care of the Jack and Jill Foundation will now benefit from the payment:
