The wage gap in Ireland has narrowed since the financial crisis according to a new study from the ESRI.
Research shows that while the number of people on lower incomes has increased the number of people earning high salaries has reduced.
The study concludes that income distribution across the country has become more even.
The ESRI says one factor is that the welfare system was relatively unchanged despite a significant rise in the number of people depending on it during the downturn.
