Parents are being advised to avoid certain teething tablets or gels that could be dangerous for children.

The Health Products Regulatory Authority says some homeopathic tablets or gels manufactured in the US are not licensed for use or retail sale here.

An investigation in the US Found they can cause serious side effects including seizures, breathing issues, excessive sleepiness and agitation

If anyone has bought these products online they're being advised not to use them.

The announcement does not apply to the two homeopathic teething products available on the Irish market - Teetha Teething Granules and Teetha Teething Gel manufactured by Nelsons.
