A yellow rainfall warning is in place for Ireland until at least 3pm.
Met Eireann issued the alert last night with up to 35 milimetres of rain expected to fall in many areas.
Meanwhile over 20,000 people were left disappointed after the annual pilgrimage at Croagh Patrick was cancelled as a result of the adverse weather conditions.
