Road-users are being reminded to slow down and drive with care as excess surface water and spot flooding may still be a problem in many parts,
Up to 50 millimetres of rain has fallen in parts of the east, with Dublin worst affected.
Met Éireann has issued two weather warnings - with a status orange alert in place in Leinster and counties Cavan and Monaghan until 6am tomorrow.
A status yellow rainfall warning remains in place for Tipperary and Waterford.

The Lord Mayor of Dublin says the city was not prepared for the heavy downpours overnight which led to flooding acroos much of the northside this morning.
Christy Burke said thousands of sandbags were required to prevent the excess water, however they were not made available.
This comes as Dublin City Council’s flood risk assessment group meet this afternoon to discuss the fallout.
