The head of the Web Summit has apologised to its 22-thousand delegates - after a it suffered a massive wifi outage this morning.

The internet issues have overshadowed the first day of the Summit which is now the largest event of its kind in Europe.

TodayÂ’s speakers include Hollywood actress Eva Longoria - while the Taoiseach will open the Nasdaq stock exchange from the Summit floor later.

Over the course of the next three days delegates will hear from 603 speakers. in whats billed as the largest tech event in Europe 

The summit also attracts more than 1,000 journalists.

While at the RDS attendees will dine on 

432,000 tastings of Irish beef, lamb, pork, duck, chicken, fish, seafood, fruit and vegetables, 480,000 grams of Irish dairy desserts, 25,000 brownies, shortbread biscuits and sweet treats and  50,000 Waterford Blaas, Ulster Soda Farls and Irish Traditional Soda and Sourdough Breads
